Read Genesis chapters 1 & 2.
Genesis chapters 1 & 2 tells us how God made the earth and everything in it, including humans. Take note of the care and concern that goes into everything that God made, especially Adam and Eve. Identify the many ways God is superior to the humans he created.
Read and study the following quotes from chapter 1 of God—The Ultimate Humanitarian.
As you read the quotes below, take note once again of how God is superior to the humans he created and think about why this is an incredible and comforting fact.
God, however, gave so much more! He created Adam and Eve in his own image. “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:27). This was not a physical image but a spiritual one reflecting God’s righteousness and holiness (Ephesians 4:24 and Colossians 3:10). Mankind was the perfect crown of God’s perfect creation. Adam and Eve were God’s brilliant masterpieces.
God—The Ultimate Humanitarian, 4
Besides giving Adam and Eve perfect bodies, a perfect world to live in and rule over, and a perfect marriage, God also gave them a perfect relationship with him. Genesis describes God as walking and talking with them. This is utterly amazing because God is both unique and superior. There is no Being like him. He is the Creator. All others are his creations. He alone existed before creation. He is in a class totally by himself.
God—The Ultimate Humanitarian, 6
Isn’t it comforting to have a God who is vastly superior to us? A god we can understand; a god who is like us; or a god we can eventually become like – such a god is not impressive. But a God who is truly one of a kind; who created the universe effortlessly out of nothing; who made it so complex that still today we regularly discover new wonders – this is an impressive God.
