Just As I Am, Without One Plea
Performed by Acapelridge
Song Lyrics
1. Just as I am, without one plea
But that thy blood was shed for me
And that thou bidd’st me come to thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
2. Just as I am and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot,
To thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
3. Just as I am, though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fightings and fears within, without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
4. Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
Sight, riches, healing of the mind,
Yea, all I need, in thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
5. Just as I am, thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
6. Just as I am; thy love unknown
Has broken ev’ry barrier down.
Now to be thine, yea, thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Text: Charlotte Elliott, 1789–1871.

Right now, not at some unknown point in the future, or if I work or try hard enough, I am perfect in Christ.
I was in such great need and all I need I have in Jesus. Welcome? Pardon? Cleansing? Relief? All I need, all I have in Jesus.
God doesn’t wait for you to clean yourself up or give it the old college try. He seeks out those who are lost and blind, and lame. He does it all because he loves you and wants you to be his child forever.

Think not that I am come to destroy the law (תורה), or the prophets (נביאים): I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Matthew 5:17

Jesus fulfilled the law in my place and, by his blood, set me free from my sins.
When it comes to keeping the law, I only have blood on my hands. I am a lawbreaker. But the law keeper shed his blood to cleanse me and make me pure.
Jesus lived the law perfectly “for me” and died to shed his blood given “for me.”

In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, The Lord Our Righteousness.
Jeremiah 23:6

Jesus is THE LORD, OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
On my own, I am not righteous. Nope. Not even close. In Christ, I am.
The LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS wraps us in himself and makes us holy. In him, I am all that I need to be. He is all that I need. He is my rock and my righteousness forever. He is the light in the darkness.

All glorious is the Princess in her chamber, with robes interwoven with gold. In many-colored robes she is led to the King. (Psalm 45:13) “Come, I will show you the Bride, the wife of the Lamb…the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God, having the glory of God.” (Revelation 22:9-11)
The Bridal people of God wear the robes of God’s own righteousness:
- robes woven in the flesh of Christ on Calvary,
- robes washed in the blood of Christ poured out from the cross,
- robes wrapped around the Bride upon her faith-union to the Risen Lord,
- and the only robes in which she can walk to be presented holy and blameless before her King and Groom and God (Ephesians 5:25-27).
May the Church, the Wife of the Lamb, refuse every gaudy garment offered by the world and clothe herself only in the Bridal robe given her by God, the robe “who is” her slain and risen Lord (Romans 13:14)
