Jesus stood and suffered in my place to give me a place with God forevermore.
My sins are what made the cross necessary. Although I was not there in Jerusalem that day it was my sins and my betrayal that drove the nails into Jesus’ hands and feet.
God SENT his son to purchase and redeem me to make me his own.

God “cut” a covenant with Abram using flesh and blood of animals. God cut another greater covenant with Jesus’ flesh and blood. The covenant Jesus made in his flesh and blood, given on the cross, gives us a heavenly inheritance with God.
My sin deserves the punishment and penalty of blood and death.
Jesus took my punishment and paid for the debt of my sins on the cross. I am healed because of him.

And when I passed by thee, and saw thee polluted in thine own blood, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live; yea, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live. Fallen humanity could never clean itself up enough to be worthy of making a bilateral (two-sided) covenant with God. God saw us in our helpless state, and in love, he acted. He made a covenant of love with humanity and wrapped us in the righteousness of Christ, adoring his believing people as the bride of Christ, the church.
There is nothing I could do to clean myself up and make myself presentable or worthy before God.
God chose to enter into a covenant with me and make me his own, wrapping me in himself.
